1. Introduction and Scope

Outsiders Law ("we," "us," or "our") is a law firm with offices in Calgary and Toronto, specializing in corporate law, M&A, and charity governance. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information from visitors to outsiderslaw.ca, individuals who interact with our digital advertising on LinkedIn, Google, and Meta, and clients and prospective clients who contact us.

This Policy applies to individuals in Canada, the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and the United States, and is designed to meet the requirements of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA).

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to deliver "Outside Counsel, Inside Service":

  • Information You Provide Directly: First and last name, email address, phone number, and details about your legal needs (e.g., M&A planning, corporate structuring, NPO/charity status) submitted via our Contact Us form or consultation booking.

  • Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and approximate geolocation, collected automatically when you visit our site.

  • Tracking Technologies: Cookies, web beacons, and pixels — including the Meta Pixel, Google Tag (including Google Ads remarketing tags), and the LinkedIn Insight Tag — used to measure ad performance, build retargeting audiences, and evaluate marketing effectiveness.

  • Advanced Matching Data: Where enabled, hashed versions of identifiers such as your email address or phone number may be shared with Meta, Google, or LinkedIn for Custom Audience matching and conversion tracking. This data is cryptographically hashed before transmission and is not used by us to identify you outside these platforms.

3. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing

  • Communications: Sending automated text and email messages regarding your inquiry. Where GDPR applies, this processing is based on your consent.

  • Legal Compliance: Meeting regulatory, tax, and law society obligations. Where GDPR applies, this processing is based on legal obligation
